Two years ago we began a project on an electric stand up scooter designed to carry a rider while towing a janitory carrier, primarily for security and maintenance use. However, we were finding that the market for this product was narrow, and time being spent on the project became too much.

So we gave the motors to a friend of ours who is a welder, and he came up with this cool electric semi-recumbent trike from scratch at home. Here are some photos of the project, including the before photos with the concept of the original vehicle and a shot of the project in its most finished state.

It was surprisingly comfortable and well designed, although it is not a finished product yet. Very functional, handling is very tight with the ability to turn on a dime. Very fast due to dual brushed motors, fun to do wheelies with!

Maybe backwards  A recumbent seat and direct stearing levers would simplify and lighten the design! Those are my kind of motors! spokes easy to tune! :)

Well, i'm not sure what direction our friend may go in with his project, if a tilting version is in the works - but here is a shot of him doing a wheelie with his trike, although he can't quite get both wheels off at once :D

It stills looks like a lot of fun.

I never would've thunk it possible! Tell your welder-artist friend what he already knows: he's a genius.

Making stuff from what was nothing before, inspires me to think outside the plain white envelope.

Give him my regards and respects?

Then let's look at the downsides....which he well knows, and so do you.
