Built out of standard components of the new Linde E20 - E50 forklift truck series (the kart drive motor i.e. is the lifting motor of the forklift truck!!!) the Linde E1 electric kart clearly undershoots the Guiness Book requirements (7 seconds) by half. The back and forth drive resulted in 3.5 and 3.4 seconds to accelerate to 60 mph and ended up at 3.45 seconds. The event took place at the ADAC Masters Weekend at Moto-Arena Oschersleben on Easter Sunday, April 24th 2011.

This is fricken awesome! Where do we find out more about the motor?

off the shelf controller motor combo! bet thats gonna be expensive

For some reason that doesn't seem very impressive to me, especially with all the money they poured into that little kart like it was a formula one car or something. And how the hell was the old record 7 seconds? It makes no sense to me.

Anybody remember this one?

And then there is Luke's carts:

Actually after Luke sees this he might just have to show these Germans how it's done!

I hope luke does. I think 3.4 0-60 is not going to be that easy to beat. The one with three turnigy motors is slow off the line. And lukes Karts are fun but they have no chance agaist the Linde kart. He does have potential to beat them. So do I and once I get a working controller for collossus then I plan to!

Over 10 years ago , Gravitron UK had an electric (brushless too ! ) kart that was tested to outrun a Yamaha R1 on an airstrip. ( up to 100mph)
It was recorded at "less than 4 sec, 0 to 60" .. using only lead acid battery's. and a 60v 1000A controller .
simply replacing the lead with some lipo would easily bring that down to the 3.0 sec range.
