I found a frame cheap as chips but im not sure how heavy it is and how hard it would be to get it going well.

I noticed that you were buying stuff from TNC Scooters - try Oatley Electronics in Sydney. Not as cheap, but the shipping prices are MUCH better.

They have some good high wattage motors (unite brand) that may be of some use depending on your speed/power requirements.
If the RC motors are your cup of tea, have a look at them too - Aussie version of hobby city is hobbyscene.com.au
As always - batteries will be exxy.

What do you want out of it? How much do you want to put in it? Should do ok for a cheap fun bike just to do short rides around the hood. I'd get it..

I would use sla batteries not sure on volts but i would say a few of them.
the faster the better. Range is not really an issue at all.

Get one of them surplus treadmill motors.. on 60v of sla.

You can score 1 to 2hp dc motors for good prices now and then. I see cheap ones on ebay, often with "windmill" or "2hp" in the title. A 50cc four stroke probably doesn't make more than 2hp anyway.. Captainslug is using a treadie on his dirt moped IIRC. Maybe he could help with a source.
Or there's always the big hobby city motors, if they ever restock. That would be sick.

Anywhere from 24v to 90v from the ones I've seen for sale. Power wise 1/2hp to 2hp, and I think that is continuous?? 1hp is around 750 watts, but the way motors are rated can vary wildly. The other cheap way to go is the brushed unites from TNC. These won't have any where near the potential of the big R/C type motors though. How much can you spend?

This one isn't much more than a 1000W brushed unite, but they are out right now. And you need to figure in the extra costs of the controller and throttle setup compared with the cheap brushed stuff.

Not sure what to spend but i just wanted to see what was out there as far as huge power goes to get a rough idea on what a cool build would cost. I guess id throw a few hundred on it. as far as controller and motor goes. i could get a treadmill motor for around 30 bucks id imagine. Pick up some cheap sla's and Should be a goer...

Just to add another to the economy choices.. you could probably score a Koll sensored brushless motor for 50 bux. I think they will take about as much volts and amps as the unite 1000's. IIRC a few people here have run them 48v at like 40 amps. Thats around 2hp.

If you have the cash, for sure get that 12kW.. I didn't know the budget so I spewed out a bunch of different options. I'm pretty sure that bike came with one of the honda clone four stroke horizontal motors. Those put out anywhere from 2 to 10 horsepower depending on displacement & tune. So 12kW would have them beat, but funding enough battery to max out that guy could be hard on the wallet.

300 bucks for another motor other then that one is too much but who can say no to 12kw for 300 bucks. Ill use sla's im not affraid lol.
