Hello all,

It's been a long time since I've posted here - life, and many things I just dont want to get into have kept me from ES Forums but I have been tinkering with the BBS02 all this time (when time has permitted).

I have been informed by 2 members of the community that someone has managed to emulsify and remove the Potting material on the stock controlers, if someone could point me to the thread, process, member, etc I would be greatly appreciative as I gave up hollowing out a stock controller to play with FET replacements, upgrades, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated and yes I have searched high and low.

Finally a question to the group before I attempt an idea which dawned upon me the other day:

It seems to me that if an external controller with a moderate regen level was setup connected to any of the BBS02/BBS01 units that it could be used to bring the motor->chainring to an immediate and forceful stop... then all that remains in pedal power. In the current controllers it spools down which is okay but elimates my ability to rapid crank shift and resume full power for acceleration. This wouldn't provide much if any regen just act as an inertial stop for the internal motor in a quick fashion (designated by regen level) and if the reduction will handle the minor added stress it would also work wonders if engaged when a shift is about to be made on an internal shifting hub which doesn't want to be turned when shifting... release the regen and the motor resumes normal operation without the CUTOUT and SPOOL down of a traditional eBrake system of the same basic pricipal.

FYI: My replacement Bafang 750 controller arrived and required a whole new wiring harness so I've decided enough is enough and am running again on an external Ed Lyen 6FET with IRFB 4110 and the R1 resistor replaced with 300 ohm for proper voltage regulation - 3077 would have been better fets for this but I had these around and I'm running at this point 25A @ 44.4v and 38A Phase Current for starters.

Just wanted everyone's .02c

Regards and Thanks,
Mike

This thread?? Only one i have seen where the controller has been unpotted. I bookmarked it in case i bugger up a controller tinkering and need to do surgery.

Yes and thank you I think that was the one, I attempted to just scrape / peel but to really poor results- maybe a heat gun will make better results... I had hoped it was a chemical emulsificatoin but thanks again for the pointer I'd been searching for 2 days before asking :)
