Compared to the "classic"(cheap) pontoon boat, these folks have done things right with sweet looking hulls...

That is a really cool boat. Of course my 25' sailboat doesn't even need electric to go 5mph. And then I don't have to recharge it either:-D

I am seriously surprised I don't see many electrically assisted sailboats though considering the quality of electrical trolling motors available.

It's happening, but slowly. Rag Baggers are afflicted with a traditional mindset... many of them. "Traditional" meaning diseasal power. They have forgotten the skills of leaving moorings and slips under sail... Or overlook the fact that they need only five minutes of power to leave the Club or marina and get to open waters... They don't think... that they can regen on a windy day or moored in a river or tidal current, to "manufacture" their own fuel... They're too lazy to concentrate and trim to play the zephyrs in the light airs... Or are too focused on itinerary on vacation or long weekend where they need to get back to the 9-5 by a certain day/time. They still slap thousands of pounds of lead on their bottoms than spend many thousands of dollars more to go "fast"...

It's been a long time. Do the Tattooed Ladies still serve at that bar just a walk down the road from the Rochester YC?

Indeed looks nice. One could DYI one of these from a used beach cat like a Hobie, Pringle or Nacra (could be had especially if sailing rig is somehow defective).

However, sailing the cat is much more fun...
