Ummm.. Started out in Victoria BC Canada, then sta
Ladies and Gentlemen, Start Your Engines! (Or wattEVer an ebiker does...)

Sorry guys, the grrrls are gonna whip yer butts (but in a nice way...)

Contest rules are simple... First to the top, wins! With a bit of effort, we should scrape up some company to sponsor some "silver" (a cup)...

Judges are all TERA members (exact roster of judges TBA), and contestants must be "approved"... Once they have crossed (or struggled) across the finish line (exact finish line TBA), each ebike will be tested, including battery and motor temperature, and battery voltage and amp-hour rating, etc., as compared to the same measurements taken before they start.

Anything else to add?

Otherwise may the best grrrl win! Oppps, sorry, guys can struggle along behind too...

Contestants must sign up, here:

(If ya don't have access, race start is on Google Maps, here:
https://maps.google.com/maps?q=35+Bluffers+Park+Rd,+Toronto,+ON+M1M+3W3+%E2%80%8E+,+Toronto,+ON

(Have to have access to the TERA web site, and be willing to fly to Toronto (yeah, flyings OK, just stay on the ground... Yeah, I know ebikes DO fly, but that's fly ON THE GROUND, silly...)

Hehe...

OK... Set the date this morning to Saturday, August 17th... at 12 noon. Changed the name of the event too, to the "First Annual TERA International Hill Climbing Competition"...

From a recent thread on the TERA site:
Hey Sir Brayden! (aka "Big B"... hehe...) Thinking of a date for this EVent? Occurs to me, oughtn't to leave it `til too late (in the summer), so sometime in August? Thing is, August 20 is the full moon (a Tuesday, at 9:45pm)... Closest (weekend) date to that might be Saturday the 17th? So I went ahead and set the date this year to Saturday, August 17th... (Moonrise 5:35pm, moon set not `til 2:22 the next morning. Meridian Passing at 10:30pm. Moon still 87+% illuminated, altitude at meridian passing 27.2° above the horizon...)

Per the Almanac:
Summer will be cooler and rainier than normal, with the hottest temperatures in early to mid-July, late July, and mid-August.

September and October will be warmer and drier than normal.
So, temps maybe slightly below ave, precip maybe 2% above ave...

Ya still OK with/prefer 12 noon? Say the word Oh Ebike Master!

Hehe...

And in another message in that thread about this hill climb:
How high is that road? Per Wikipedia:
At its highest point, the escarpment rises 90 metres (300 ft) above the coastline...(the equivalent of twenty-five storeys)

And:
The Bluffs have been described as a "geological wonder" and a unique feature in North America.

By another report:
At their highest at Cliffside, the bluffs rise 65m (211ft) above the water. At the Bellamy Ravine, they rise about 60m, and at Guildwood, the height drops to 50m.

How many languages have an expression loosely equivalent to "pretty darned steep"? Maybe more to the point here, does an ebike go straight up? Cars, etc do make this trip (up) all the time. Does an ebike motor "lug" by the way?

Another report:
Another way down is through the Bellamy Ravine, but there you have to park on the street. This is a more difficult route since the ravine drops 100m over its 1000m length.

I don't even know if there is any "record" (yet) for "fastest time to the top" for ANY vehicles, EVer...

It's a *good* thing that most here (on this web site) appear "chicken"! This competition would only be for the brave...

Wow, That's awesome. I would have absolutely ridden my ebike up there, however I've already planned to be in Indianapolis that weekend for the TTXGP race. Next year!

Unfortunately, I was little late, here's my timing, 53 seconds from Bluffer's park sign to top of the hill.
