From Penthouse – To White House - To Jailhouse?
The rise and fall of Donald J Trump. From a world-renowned and revered con man to a world-renowned repudiated convict.
Is this even possible? In 1973, amid the Watergate scandal, the Department of Justice adopted the position that a sitting president is constitutionally immune from criminal prosecution, a position it reaffirmed in 2000. As long as Trump was president, he was above the law.
However, with his overwhelming loss, the world he so wanted to own as his self-gratifying toy is crumbling right in front of him? Is the axiom, 'what goes around, comes around' serving him a taste of what the rest of us in society have had to endure for the last four-plus years?
Maybe the loss of presidential immunity and subsequent legal consequences will serve as notice to the world that our democracy can and will punish all wrong do'ers, no matter how high their status in society is. And hopefully, Trump's followers/enablers will come to realize that they too have been, conned.
Notwithstanding the present slew of cowardly false claims of 'widespread' voter fraud, today is a happy day for the 75,528,736 plus (still counting) people who voted for the return of normalcy, integrity, honor, eptitude, common sense, and intelligent, empathetic, experienced governing. And the replacement of the quasi-dictatorship of Donald Trump.
I am ecstatic over this win. I will be more ecstatic if Donald Trump (and his clan) are brought to justice in front of the world.
