I plan on building a small electric catamaran with brushless electric outboards and solar/batteries.
I'm hoping to gather power use data from other people's small electric displacement boats so I can extrapolate what my approximate requirements might be. I've looked far and wide and made some feeble attempts to understand the math involved. At this point I've resigned myself to trying to find actual data from people who have tested their own boats. I did find plenty of videos but they were all on highly inefficient fishing kayaks.
Here is an example of the format I'm hoping for:
Boat type: Kayak
Length: 12'
Weight: 300lbs (with occupant)
Approx wetted surface area: 25 ft2
Watts per various speeds:
2 mph: 100 watts
3 mph: -
4 mph: -
5 mph: -
6 mph: -
