I got it on sale for a great price, but when it arrived the box was beaten up. I could see inside, though, and the bike looked undamaged, so I crossed my fingers and signed for it. It turns out, though, that crossing your fingers is very overrated as a way of avoiding bad luck. Aside from the rear tube blowing out spectacularly, the motor, a Bafang 750 watt min-drive, bangs on the chain pretty much whatever I do, The shift sensor works, but is ineffective. I'm backing off or shutting down the power for shifts, but even DOWNSHIFTS cause banging, unless I use the brake lever to kill the motor which I do it. My guess is that the box was dropped a least once, weakening the tube and damaging the motor.

How can I proceed with it while I'm trying to get Biktrix to take it back..?

My guess is that your problems are primarily due to a lack of competent initial setup. That's why a bike in a box is cheaper than one on the showroom floor at a decent bike shop-- the one you get straight from the tiny hands of Chinese orphan slaves isn't finished and often not roadworthy as a result.

It doesn't help that the component quality of bikes like that is usually so low that they're difficult to set up correctly and often need new replacement parts right out of the gate.

Chain skipping is an adjustment issue. Tires blowing off is almost always a result of not seating them correctly the first time. It's a problem that Biktrix made, literally, but you bought that problem and now it's yours.

The best thing you could do for yourself is to take it to a service-oriented bike shop and have them go through it. It's the first setup that counts the most.

I'm too physically weak to take it anywhere. There is a mobile service. Very expensive, and he's done some work for me in the past that I had to have him redo. That will be my last resort. I want them to take the bike back.

The online friend who recommended the bikes to me had a similar issue. He says that he had "trashed" the cassette with improper shifting, and a new cassette solved it... He also had the rear tire/tube blow.

I've gotten the bike pretty much sorted out.And I've discovered that I Don't Like Mid-Drives. Thus the bike is up for sale at Albany.craigslist. One possible issue remains, though: are the throttles on these bikes really that damned weak??? It will jerk the bike from a stop fast, but above that I can barely feel any acceleration at all when "flooring" it. And "Sport" mode is pathetic.

Yeah one of many downsides of a prebuilt bike.. programmable controllers or bust!
