Trying to keep this beer gut in check, was browsing ebay the other day for Doorway Chin-Up bars and stumbled on this thing..... seen it on TV a long long time ago, endorsed by Chuck Norris..

Hit up the local Kijiji (* craiglist type thing ) and found an older model 1100 for 100$ .. so i picked it up.

Thing had a huge layer of dust, barely used, it at all, and after cleaning it up and oiling the wheels.... gave it a go !

I've had various exercise machines over the years, free-weights, etc.... and after using this thing for a week... i'm hooked.. love it !... 8)

Lot of focus currently on High intensity Training (HIT) or High intensity Interval Training (HIIT) for major results on body fat and fitness.
Touted as the "3 minute a week workout" .
.and a bike is one of the best tools to use !

Simple Program
The HIT program he asked Mosley to follow was quite simple and can be done on a standard exercise bike:

First, you warm up for a couple of minutes with some gentle cycling: then you cycle as fast as you possibly can ("hell for leather", as Mosley describes it) for 20 seconds.

Then, you cycle gently again for a couple of minutes while you catch your breath, then do another 20 seconds "flat out".

Then, for a final time, two minutes gentle cycling to catch your breath, followed the third period of 20 seconds at "full throttle".

And that's it. Do this HIT program three times a week, and you have a total of 3 minutes a week of intensive pedalling, and about 6 minutes of gentle pedalling.

Those are good machines,i used to use one and it rocked.i just do body weight exercises now.good luck with making yourself stick with it. :D

Hmm, I just pedal all the time while ebiking. Single track keeps it interesting, while staying in the trails as long as possible is the carrot that keeps me wanting to conserve the batteries. Winter time is the only thing causing me to gain weight, since I can't bike :(

I totally dig why you would be using a gym machine right now. Bet it's too cold to really enjoy a cross country ski workout, let alone bike.

I crack up though, when I ride by a gym on my side of town. The January workout boom is on. I see through the window that it's packed with people riding exercise bikes. I'm going by on my bike, it's 60F, no wind, sun is shining. Idiots. Makes more sense of course in summer when I ride by and it's 105F.

I have enjoyed my total gym. It is smooth and provides great range of motion. I still use dumb bells for some of my shoulder and arm exercises.

Weather here is 27deg with a windchill of 18deg. It has been snowing all day, way colder winter than the past few years. Thought the trend was warmer winters, but definitely not the case this year. I'm slowly gaining weight due to the inactivity. Would ski or snowboard if we had mountains. Local resorts here are just hills. I was able to kiteboard using my snowboard during the holidays. The evenings after work are just too dark to do much. Can't wait till spring. Just not the type that can get into working out.
