First post!

I'm sort of a newb. I have a project in mind that would make this radio double as a charger. In a perfect world I could listen to music and charge batts at the same time.

First, here's the radio being torn apart (not by me) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pc4p2VCVwS8&feature=related

The charger that I want to use is the standard Makita 18v fat pack charger. It says it puts out 7.2-18vdc and 2.6amps.

Can you help me get this straight?

The radio uses the 18v pack to power it. If I could shoe-horn the charger into the radio do you think I could power the radio and charge a battery at the same time?

I just don't understand how adding a load effects charging. For instance; If I paralleled two fat packs off one charger could the chargers handle that sort of stuff?
I have been reading until my eye bled about safety concerns so there's no way I'd ever do that. I just need to understand the "concept" of loads on chargers.

Thanks! I love this place.

Sounds like a good idea, there are some chargers with radio's built in dewalt, makita, etc, worth a try but I can't help with my lack of electrical knowledge but someone here will know, welcome to ES, I might get something to eat now I'm feeling hungry don't know why,

Yeah.. I can't believe Makita didn't include charging in these radios.

I think I can get the guts in there.. .I just don't know how to judge whether the charger can handle a radio and charging duties at the same time...
