Does anyone know of a USA supplier for prebuilt Headway Batteries? I need one asap and can't wait for shipping from China.

I doubt that you can save time, for Headway batteries are not common enough to find them ready built in the western world.

Are you saying they aren't a quality LFP product?

I need to build 60+Ah packs, and like the high per cell capacity rather than messing with 3-4Ah per cell.

Within that context, what other LFP suggestions are out there, for good quality at a reasonable landed cost per kWh into the US?

Prefer a known trustworthy North American vendor of course, rather than warranty service involving my paying for overseas shipping.

Unlike OP I'd be happy with bare cells rather than finished packs.

I know nothing about these Headway batteries, but seeing that they're surprisingly hot - 100A continuous, some of them 160A with momentary discharge 200A - seems possible that they're more familiar in other application areas where that's more commonly needed?

For just cells - to my surprise, one of the options on ebay claims "Country/Region of Manufacture: United States" I wouldn't bet my life it's true, but it's a US company - K2 Energy LFP26650EV cells. Used to be "Peak Battery Solutions." Ordinary Ah for this size cell though.

K2 does not apparently have a great reputation for great longevity, as for example A123 (now Lithium Werks / Valence / Super B)

I'm willing to pay more for high purity LiFePO4 and strong QA / build quality.

Winston/Thundersky/Voltronix, CALB, GBS, Sinopoly and the like are top notch, but generally make much bigger prismatic cells.

The 10-20Ah size middle ground does not seem to have that many choices.

For unassembled cells, a friend had success buying direct from Headway 10 yrs ago. Another tried more recently, and was referred to a distributer, where he had quick shipping. They sell assembly kits that are modular, and very easy.

If you want safety, lifepo4 chemistry is the best choice. However it comes with a downside of being 2-4 times heavier and larger.

And not dependent on Chinese owned cobalt mines in Africa - abuse, child labor, toxicity unnecessary.

I calculated a little over 2x the energy density when I did the math a while ago.

Comparing

3.5Ah (12.6Wh) 18650 @45g = .28Wh/g

20Ah (64Wh) A123 pouch @ 480g = .135Wh/g

So much closer to 2x than 4x.

Pretty much need a LiFePo battery for 24v. Lipo 7s is to little volts, 8s is to many volts for my controller.
