Hi all, I have a greentime controller and a twist throttle with a 3 speed switch built in. I want to connect it to the controller but unsure of which wires to connect, does anyone know or best way to test? Can I do any damage if I don't get the order right?

Thanks

Most 3 speed switches are just a spdt center off switch. Do you know how to use a vom to test the wires from the switch? Hook the controller common wire to center terminal, and the other 2 wires to each side. That's all there is to it. Now you have to identify which of your switch wires is which. That's what the vom is for. Center off is default speed. The other 2 positions are the other 2 speeds.

Hi wesnewell, thank you for your help. I know how to use a multimeter but unsure what I am checking for in this instance.

From the white controller plug I get
Pink = 5v
Black = Ground
Blue = 5v

I'm not getting any voltage from the switch plug.
Could you please explain a little more... when you say common wire to center terminal are you referring black (ground) from controller to center terminal (blue wire??) from switch.

Thanks again

You need to find out which is high and low on the controller plug. Assuming your system is hooked up, just stick a bent paper clip into the center hole and one of the other holes. This should make it run in low or high, let's say it's the black orange combo is high and black blue is low. Then with your meter, when the switch is in 1, two of the wires on the black plug will have continuity, and then it will change which two when set on 3. The center is usually the common one, so the blue is prob the common on the black plug.
There won't be any voltage in the black plug... You're looking for continuity.

Thanks Voltron. I did the continuity test on black plug and the blue wire was common between the brown and white depending on switch position. Based on that seems pretty straight forward

Pink to Brown
Black to Blue
Blue to White

For some reason I thought speed settings was done by reducing throttle signal voltage and not by a programmed switch built into the controller.

Thanks all for your help.
