Hookworm or holy roller?

I've got some hardcore off road tyres on my downhill bike but for my electric conversion I want to put slicker ones on. I'll be mostly on the pavement or road and might even use it in the wet. I was thinking of going with a maxxis hookworm or holy roller. Opinions?

I like the Holy Roller for the paths around here where we get some gravel washed across paths after it rains. The block pattern grips well in all conditions. Slicks don't work as well on unexpected patches of mid-corner gravel, but are otherwise excellent for sealed surfaces.

I love my hookworms, it is all i will ride with. I love having them on my rigid bikes as well, it is like decent suspension, and makes handling feel like a motorbike. I am not familiar with the Holy Rollers though.

I have only ever had one flat with my Hookworms, and that was an enormous nail that no tire could have survived, even a motorbike tire would have been toast.

I have the Holy Rollers, and they are great. Awesome traction, in all terrains and the wet.
I imagine the they aren't as fast as the Hookworms, but i got mine for a 3rd of the price and haven't had a problem.

I have a Stealth Bomber with 24 X 2.5" Hookworms, the tire is soft and will cut very EZ on glass but the ride is great and grips well, just don't hit gravel in a turn. They came with the bike but I now see Stealth changed the tires they ship with to Schwalbe Crazy Bob's 24 X 2.35". Both are wire bead tires. I have had other Schwalbe tires in the past and IMO they are #1.

thxs guys. I'll look into it and see what my lbs has...

Hookworms kick ass in the dry, but in the wet they are dangerous. I have spun out and put my bike down 3 times on wet roads with my hookworms. I'll be going with something like Holyrollers once my hookworms wear out as i am all too often riding on wet roads. I'll happily take the small rolling resistance increase for peace of mind in all riding conditions.

I've been pretty happy with the Michelin Pilot City thus far. I wanted a slightly narrower tire than the Hookworm as 100% of my riding is on relatively good pavement (the Pilot City is 26x1.75), and it's damn near a slick. No idea how it would handle in rain (we don't get much of that down here in San Diego) but apart from being an absolute horror to mount, it's been a good tire thus far.
