This has been plaguing pretty much everyone. But apparently it is VERY SIMPLE. It literally is what its said in the pop up and the guide is literally there - update the controller through the WeChat Mini Program.
*For those who dont know, WeChat is a chat app. Mini Programs are basically apps you can use within WeChat. In that sense, it is like Play Store but no downloads needed.
What is the WeChat Mini Program its talking about?
- it is basically the Fardriver app where you can adjust the settings too, AND it has an online update feature there
Requirements:
a WeChat account
(thats it)
do not ask me how i got one, it was just luck on my end so i have no idea how i even got one
Steps:
-assuming you already have an account, go to Discover (bottom right)
-click Mini Programs
-search "南京远驱科技有限公司"
-click the first one (it should have the fardriver app logo, the gear with infinity symbol)
-the app will open, connect to the controller via bluetooth (enable all necessary permissions for we chat such as location and bluetooth if you are on android)
-click the 3 dots (top right) and click Translate (bottom far right) unless you can understand Chinese
-once connected click Firmware upgrade
-select "main program" (it should be selected by default)
-click "main program protocol choice" and select the approprate one for your controller. mine ends with H so I picked "H; 32YCK_M_002". I REPEAT, THIS DEPENDS ON YOUR CONTROLLER. DO NOT COPY MINE UNLESS YOU ARE SURE. I AM NOT RESPONSIPLE FOR YOUR MISTAKE.
-click the big button that says Firmware upgrade.
-after the update, it should work as it used to

- no, the fardriver guys did not brick anyones controllers, they did not turn our controllers to paperweight. probably just miscommunication and a very specific app requirement
- if you prefer, you can also use the Mini Program to edit settings
- the controller password can be the last 6 digits of your controller serial number

- Worthless Controls (Play Store)
this works great, no login, and supports other controllers as well and even most BMS, but it sometimes has problems. I leave you to find that out if you decide to use this. Besides, im far more used to the original app.
EDIT: WC will need you to have the controller password. Try 1234 or 3414 or the last 6 digits of your serial number. Where did I get these numbers? by decompiling the original app (lol)
