Is a 20A controller OK for Crystalyte 405, 20in wheel?

Hello all, I'm new to the Endless-Sphere forums. I have a 20in wheel folding bike that I would like to convert to electric. I understand the Crystalyte 405 motor (low winding/high speed) is a good fit for 20in wheels. However, I'm concerned about the higher current draw of the 405 compared to higher winding motors such as the 408. Do you think I'll be ok with a 36V 20A controller, or do I need a 35A or higher capacity controller to be safe?

Thanks.

I run a Crystalyte 406 in a 26'' wheel with a Crystalyte Pedal first controller with 6 IRFB4110 from Ebike.ca, I run it at 33 or 66 Volt with no problem (I have done over 1600 KM) the factor that help ...is that my controller is pedal first, so the big initial start load is not there, it start from 10KM/H and at that speed the load is acceptable.

I used to run it at 25AMP (it came like that from factory) and now I run it at 30 AMP.

I say if you run a pedal first system you won't see any problem.

With a 20 inch wheel, starting and climbing hills should be easy enough. A 20 amp controller is likley to give you better range, going easier on your batteries too. But, if you are looking to burn rubber you will be dissapointed. If you are looking for assist, it will be fine. Some of us want help pedaling, and some of us are building mini motorcycles. If you decide later to upgrade, a spare controller in the garage is a good thing anyway.

Thanks. Looking at the ebikes.ca simulator and other members' posts with similar setups, running a Crystalyte 405 in a 20in wheel at 36V should give me a max speed of 25mph on flats. That is plenty fast for me.
