Jay Leno getting involved

I saw this commercial with the Shell Eco Marathon contestants along with Jay Leno. It's kinda cool to see a celebrity with so many cars interested in a student competition.

Jay Leno love the Zero, Mission Motorcycles, Lightning motorcycles and Tesla and other EVs... he like them !

Unfortunatly the only Zero he tried was the 2009 with poor performances and alot of troubles with battery...

If only someone could contact him and let him try the new 2015 SR !!

Doc

I remember Neal Saiki laid a long patch of rubber on the floor of Jay's garage with the Zero.

Yeah me too. I remember.. maybe Jay is still frustrated about that... so he do not invite Zero.. lol

Jay's still into it... Going "Old School" upgrading a 1914 Detroit Electric car...

I just learned something new.
2 wind, dual wind (high and low winding) motor at 11:12

So its one wind, just using a switch?
I have to look more into that, especially the Delta and Wye configs. I've read it, never really understood it.

Jays a great guy, he really knows his stuff. I wonder though, if he studies before the video is taped. But his off-the-cuff remarks while filming indicates he really knows his stuff.

Imagine having a business next to, or close by his warehouse. Seeing Jay driving his vehicles. Even out on the pavement grid, seeing an old early 1900's vehicle and seeing the Jays classic blue denim shirt. He must have some really tight security on the premises, he is not shy about filming outside his warehouse.

I wanted to find video of the guy that laid rubber in Jays warehouse, but ended up watching a few episodes of Jay Leno's Garage.
Its really an interesting show altogether, goes from preppy high end super cars, to odd-ball vehicles, to concept vehicles, to ebikes/gas-bikes and so on. Who ever gets his collection, it will surely be a masterpiece of public display. He is only 64 yrs old. Probably doesnt smoke, most likely doesnt drink alcohol.

Some fun stuff in Jays collection... including an Aptera car (prev.linked to this vid. on ES... somewhere...):
