I don't know what a hull kayak is but the two basic types of kayaks are sit in or sit on top. Sit in kayaks with an apron are great at keeping cold water out and sit on top kayaks are great in warm water situations where if a wave washes over you it can just drain out the drain holes. I have a ocean kayak brand sit on top and its great here in florida for playing in the surf. If I rollover I just fallout and I don't have to worry about flipping back over in rough surf.
