I already know it exist the Maxxis Creepy Crawler 20 x 2.5, but i wonder if any of you know these some great offroad tires for bicycle 20" wheel?

it seem that the only that are 3.00 or up to 4.25 are slick tires style... but i want offroad style!

What would be the equivalent in the motocross style tires or trial style tires that fit on a standard bicycle rim??

I would fit those on the rim that Ypedal sold me ( the old Zero motorcycle rim) of 40mm wide.

Thanks!

Doc

All tires this size will be trials or the like, look at the big brands, you might find a thread that suits your need.

Nimbus Blizzard Trial Tire
Maxxis Maxx Daddy
Onza Sticky Finger
Kenda Kikzumbut
Neumati BTLD x-lite

I believe that a 16in motorcycle tire will fit on a 20in bicycle rim, but would not stay on there very long. Maybe on an extra wide one, like the Large Marge, it would stand a fair chance. They are not expansive though, to try, and a used one might even be free at the motocross track.

I finally went to a motorcycle parts store and i bought a 17" x 3.0" kenda motocross tire that fit PERFECT with the rim i have.

This rim also normally fit any 20" bicycle tire

THAT CONFIRM that a 16" motorcycle tire FIT PERFECT WITH A RIM MADE FOR 20" BICYCLE TIRE !!!

Wow! What is the made of your rim?
Normally, the bicycle rim wall height is too low to properly seat the bead of a motorcycle tire. Apart of this, the spoke holes in your rim have the alternate pattern like a motorcycle wheel, makes it much better to lace a hub motor in it.

What kind fo tube did you use? Is this tire mounted and working? I will be following your lead when you get all the bugs worked out!!! :D

That Rim is one i got from Ypedal two years ago. I got also two from Black Arrow who also got them from Ypedal

He got a batch of the first gen rim of the Zero Electric Motorcycle.

I think he might have some left... You can ask him ( Ypedal).

They are pretty strong and NEVER BENDED.. They are 44mm ext width and 40mm inside.

I have 3 total. Two for my new project and one on my mongoose.

FYI: Rims and Tires Reference

20” bike tire/rim = 16” motorcycle

I pine for a 22” bike rim to latch onto 18” motorcycle tires but they just don’t seem to make them in a size usable for us. In addition, North American has a limited selection of choice compared to the thriving scooter market of Europe. :|

Glad you found a solution though, KF

schwalbe makes a 20 x 2.35 big apple if that helps.

i bought a 17" x 3.0" kenda motocross tire
Glad you found something suitable, but I believe you meant to say that you bought a 16" not 17"!

I've been looking for cheap, lightweight 24x3 front and 3.5-4" rear dual sport tyres and rims with no real luck at the rear. The closest I've come is 24x3" knobbies and the Felt Berm Master, Duro Razorback, Arrow Wide Bite, Camel tire CB 960, IRC Kujo, Halo Contra, Intense DH or Nokian Gazzaloddi but I'd really like something wider and more dual sport (40% onroad/60% offroad) in-between these:

24x3" Felt Berm Master on the left. 24x4.25" Wanda King on right.

18" Motorcycle wheels are the other option. A lightweight electric bicycle version of the following Dunlop D908 Rally Raid motorcycle tyres would be great, I really like the tread pattern down the middle, but I can't find anything lightweight and suitable like them.

I always wear the centers like Doc did, but want a lightweight knobby/roadie for offroad cornering too rather than a slick or all knobby, so I always look for a tyre like this tread pattern but rarely find them! I'm concerned with how much motorcycle tyres weigh too, so I looked at Trials tyres thinking they'd be pretty light. Not really.

Front - DOT IRC TR1 3.00-21 2.7kg (6-8lb depending on who you believe)
Rear - DOT Pirelli MT43 4.00-18 5.9kg (13-14lb) (90MPH rated)

The Front IRC is about double the weight of a typical 24x3" (1500g) bicycle tyre, the Pirelli quadruple but an extra inch wider...
The newest Michelin X-lite are tempting but pricey, and I can't find how much they weigh, and I wonder how Trials would feel to pedal...

The heaviest, widest BMX tire I can find is the Subrosa Gravedigger.

It is nominally a 60-406 but measures ot at 64-406

Mounted diameter is 20.9" and measured width is 2.52". Given its volume I'm guessing that at its rated 85psi it can support a considerable load. The 29.4 oz = 835 gm is substantial for a 20" bicycle tire.
