Milwaukee warantee?

I have a dead milwaukee 28v battery. I bought my tool set in '05, so it has lasted me a while. But I have been hearing lately that the Milwaukee packs have a five year warantee. Is this correct? I had thought that it was a 2 year warantee. I have heard that the dewalt packs just need to be brought in, no questions asked, and they will replace it. Is this the same for the milwaukees?

IIRC, you have to send it in. I think the warranty info is at the MilW site.

FWIW, I went with Ridgid for the lifetime service agreement... you have to send in the UPCs from the cartons after purchase and they register your batteries (or other tools).

Technically it's 2 yrs/1,000 charges "no questions asked" (I think) and then after that up to 5 yrs/2,000 charges is a pro-rated deal.

EDIT: If you take the pack to a Milwaukee Authorized Service Center they can read the pack's total charges and "born on date" from the chip inside each pack. and tell you how much to replace. It'll be a lot more if the pack is at the end of it's life cycle.

Thanks for the info. Well, maybe a pro rated coverage will still be cheaper then buying a new one.
