So i've got a pile of 16000mAh Multistars but i would like to be able to pull more than 40A down for bursts from lights etc

I have
1x 6s 16000mah
4X 4s 16000mah multistars rated at 10c, working on the 25% rule i can only really pull 40A from them, but the 16Ah is fine

If i was to parallel 3 of the 2S 50-100C Hardcase nano-techs and add that 16.8ah 100C in series to the main pack, would that give me the ability to draw more current in bursts from the pack as a whole?

or the same theory with 2P 30C of these - http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__23551__ZIPPY_Flightmax_8000mAh_2S1P_30C_AU_Warehouse_.html

( i know i could parallel the whole lot with another 22s but i'm out of space)

(short question) can i get a higher discharge rate with a booster pack of the same Ah but 3/4X higher C?

Short answer....NO !
Any thing you put in series will increase pack voltage, but not discharge C rate.
To increase current capacity you have to parallel more cells of the same voltage.
How much more amps do you need ?
Have you tried with the existing 16ahr , 10c pack ?...what was the result ?

sweet thanks, i knew adding more in parralel would give me more discharge but i was wondering if adding in some with a much higher C rating would absorb some of the load for bursts.

the multistars are good but really start sagging above 60A load

Well, i guess you know, the only way to reduce that sag is to either add more Ahr at the same voltage, or go to a higher C rate pack of the same capacity
Simplest & cheapest is probably to double up on the Multistar that you already have.

yeah i think ill try find somewhere to put another few kilos of battery haha, maybe a backpack, with 32ah ill be ready for some journeys lol

I'm a bit confused what you were proposing. I should have another cup of coffe, then read again.

What will work, is to parallel higher c rate packs with each of your low c rate packs. The combined cells would then have a higher c rate for two reasons, more ah, and some if it higher c rate.

Adding any higher c rate stuff in series won't change the sag on the rest.

thanks guys i think i have it under control now haha

what if they are paralleled with a pack of same voltage but smaller AH to save space?
i.e adding 6s 16000mah 10c with a 6s 8000ma 40c for a 6s2p? 24ah? and so on
