Hi
my wifes grandmother is having issues getting around because of bad arthrithis and osteophorosis.

She´s living in Ecuador, where mobility/handicap veicles are not very common. And we were thinking of getting her something she can move around in. So what im basically hoping for is some feedback on what we should get her. A 3 wheeler with a hub engine or a 4 wheel mobility scooter or maybe something different.

Mobilityscooters seem to have good torque for hills and good range. But small wheels, which can be a pain. They also have big comfortable seats that are easy to get into.

3 wheel bikes, are cheaper, easy to fix and have bigger wheels for cobblestone or potholes. In many cases they are to fast as well.

Its hard to get good info or test vehicles here as we live in Norway. I would love some product reccomandations i could have shipped from the us or china. Or just some general feedback if someone has experiance with scimilar issues.

Thanks
Jonas

Well, its in Ecuador, so perpetual summer :)

Something like that trike might be perfect. Without pedals, with a board or something. With a slow engine whith high torque so it can take the hills.

Ebikes don't do slow very well, and aren't designed to be reliable enough for someone who needs them to get around. You could build one that could be, but if you're not there to handle the maintenance...

They do make mobility scooters that have larger wheels. I'm keeping an eye out for one for my dad. I can't recommend any by brand, but the style looks like this:

Something like that would be perfect.
I will do some googling. Is there a good terme for these, or is it just called a mobility scooter?
