Hello!
I recently tried to upgrade my pro 2 with a more modern motor. So here is some information for anyone interested, and also some questions i have.
I had two spare motors i tried to make work, one from a xiaomi scooter 4, and one from a xiaomi 4 pro. Yes i am aware of the monorim motor, this is not the point of this.
So, the one from scooter 4 worked fairly easily. I removed the 6 pin hall sensor connector and soldered the older 5pin connector. I just left the white wire out since its not used on the older controller. I also had to replace the stem and fork with the ones from the scooter 4 to make the motor fit. Everything fits and bolts nicely, apart from the steering wheel/handlebars, which i did not have a replacement for and i had to use the regular pro 2 one. After grinding on it with a colleague we managed to make it fit.
Only issue is that the motor turns backwards, so as a quick solution to get it running, i just mounted it backwards, and it works really well.
My understanding is that i have to reverse two of the hall sensors and phase wires and it should work as expected, is that right?
Now about the pro 4 motor, it has the same 5 pin hall sensor connection as the older models. However no matter how i change the wiring it doesnt want to work properly. Keeping the wires as they were is definitely not right, as the scooter would only go 15kmh without any load and the phase wires were getting hot.
I played around with the 3 hall sensors and the 3 phase wires, but none of the combinations i tried made it work properly.
One of the combinations was a bit scary, as the scooter would go crazy fast without any load(70kmh indicated on the dashboard lol). But it wouldnt go when riding, and according to the m365 tools app it was pulling full power with and without load. Any ideas on how to make it work? I am quite happy with the scooter 4 motor, but i m sure the 4 pro is better.
