Hi,

This is my first Ebike adventure, I received my BBs02 and 48V 13.5ah shark pack from Luna last week and have been working on getting it up and running while I wait for the charger I forgot to order the first time (Ugh!).

I've run in to a few snags, the first thing is I Can't seem to find a way to securely fasten the shark mount to my Kona frame, the 2 holes for a water bottle are very low so only the one hole will actually be useful. I tried looping zip ties around the top of the mount but then the Shark won't seat properly so that's no good...

Is the best option to drill some holes? I don't have any experience with that but I can I can start researching that next

Additionally I discovered my brakes and shifters are the Shimano Tourney type that are integrated so I'll need to leave the right shifter/brake alone and only replace the left one meaning just the one Ebrake cut off, is that ok?

Last thing I'm wondering about is how does the BBS02 connect to the connectors coming from the Shark battery? I thought it would be a little more plug and play when ordering the battery and motor at the same time from Luna and maybe it is but I'm a total newb with this.

Any suggestions would be helpful, especially for mounting the battery in the area I have the mount sitting currently in the uploaded photos here:

You need to drill at least one extra hole in the frame and install a Rivnut;

You need to use at least one hidden wire brake sensor;

You need to replace the mis-matching connectors with a matching pair. I use 4 mm bullets, but others prefer Andersons or XT90's. Available @ Hobbyking, RC progressive or Hobby Partz.

Yes, you deffinately could do some researching/reading.

Since the battery has XT90s connector, I would buy a XT90 connector and replace the connectors on your BBS02 leads. Lunacycle has them. You can buy connector with wires attached if you want splice, just the XT90 connector if you want to solder to that.

One brake lever with cutoff should be sufficient.

Question. Since I will be using a dolphin battery with my BBSO2, I plan to to solder the battery wires to my controller and not use the sparkless XT=90's that came with the luna kit. My other two e-bikes have dolphins, and I slide them in and out of their racks occasionally, and never hear any pops. I didn't think there was any risk. Am I wrong?

Since the dolphins have an on/off switch, not gonna spark if off.

No, the XT90 and the XT90-S are compatible. He already has the anti-spark XT90S on his battery, so a regular XT90 part would go on the BBS02 leads.

Given that the maker chose to identify the two with different part numbers, I would feel better using all XT90-S connectors. I cannot see a Chinese maker going to the expense of making a new mold with a new part number if it was unnecessary, their margins are just too slim.....
