ciao LockH, Yes it's an Old Project, it was a spin off of a diesel concept ( mono 903 cc) , designed just for visibility, but it's not the kind of concept with hubless wheel, It has extreme but correct technical and ergonomic solutions.
Part of the project was the shared battery system, here a link http://www.muee.eu/PAOLO%20DE%20GIUSTI%20DESIGN/automatic%20supply%20station.jpg battery is owned by by the automatic station, that keep it charged and ready to swap automatically with a robot arm ( the battery it's too heavy to leave this operation to the rider). The concept has gained huge visibility but no contacts related to a real interest in production .

ciao Paolo

Paolo! Nice to see you drop by ES! It's obvious your design thinking is far and wide but was just nice to see that example of living life better electrically for our travel needs! :) Robotic-swapping? Personally more interested in shorter distance, slower speed urban life where any such large and heavy battery pack isn't really needed. I'd be looking more portable battery-electric power tool-sized packs dispensed by roadside vending machines. :)

... that sort of thing. But please keep us "ebikers" in mind! I was recently sold on the idea of riding three wheeled and recumbent. Thinking of adding a shell/body "velomobile"-style.

Cheers

PS. When young got to live in England for three years and camp around Europe. Got as far east as time in Italy, camping across the water from Venice... day-tripped there. So a gondola trip under the Bridge of Sighs, Piazza San Marco, etc. Pretty magical for a Canadian kid. :)
