These aren't electric, but...

Here are Post Office personnel trying out some "Autopeds" in 1917...

That's amazing, 1917, wow.!! It seems not much has changed w/the evolution of the standup scooter in 100 years. They look to be well built & I love the little motor on the front wheel. Thanks for sharing this.

tbh, the segway was supposed to revolutionize the way we commute. guess the price kills it for the "poor" people.

great photo and great drawing. dont get drawings like that anymore or of course photos like that either. loosing your underwear while riding isn't something I've ever thought of or will ever likely see again in this age
where was that pic of the postal people taken? looks like california light and structures but I'm probably wrong.

those things were probably just as annoying as a two stroke scooter today. I think noise pollution is considered more so today and no post offices have them luckily. a big reason electric vehicles are so attractive to me is the lack of noise and maybe even secondly exhaust. I read that a typical 2 stroke like those cause roughly 40 times the air pollution of an suv due to the oil added which comes out as aerosol exhaust.

Amelia Earhart was famous for being a female pilot when it was unusual for anyone to be a pilot. Pic is from 1936. When she'd arrive at an airport, she found that a scooter was a great way to get around. Small enough to store and carry in the plane, light enough to lift and carry when needed...

this is from my vintage gas skateboard post, but technically it's a scooter.

Skeeter 1959
check out the video,

Illinois Technical College, United States of America (USA).

C/U student Louis Richards placing package on bench, he takes something from it. C/U Richards taking his invention, the "skeeter" (motorised scooter), from its case and assembling it. C/U skeeter being assembled. C/U Richards taking it from bench and putting it on the ground. C/U Richards getting onto skeeter and moving off.

from the video, Skeeter is powered by model aircraft engine. Louis believes if everyone use one, the parking problem would be solved...
