Never seen before but is there already somewhere a wedding between a plettenberg nova 15 and a adaptto E-max ?
Just playing with the idee :D

So afther 150 vieuws and no reply's i think nobody ever try it or done it. I will try it on a new self-made frame with a nova15 watercooled and the E-max at 75 volts.
The aspiration with this bike is not topspeed but hard acceleration.

yep... iirc its about 2k euro for the 15. at that price, i'd buy the larger of the joby motors, similar cost but more torque, and lighter. still... look forward to your build mate. should be a monster.

the joby motor was also an option, but i like the closed watercooled nova ,and the intention is to make the bike waterproof.I want to drive it trough mud and little waterpools.

Look forward to your build. Even if Joby is lighter and has more torque I am certain the Nova 15 will not disappoint you.
You get a light weight mid drive with plenty of power and nimble enough to ride in the most technical section of single tracks.
Be sure you mate with a controller that can deliver what the Nova 15 needs.

I will be following your build with very much interest! Should be a beast!

I used a Plettenberg Bigmaxximum in one of my rc cars, also quite costly (€300 iirc), but it was such a powerful and buttersmooth motor! 3kW of power, on a 7kg rc car

Now I'm using a 80100 motor on my bike, a Plettenberg motor is just too costly for me

this will be a late summer build still collecting pieces ,the e-max from adaptto wil be available in september. I hope it will do the job, just it worries me a bit ,that it will limit the power of the nova. The nova will be ordered later this month, just have to decide the kv.(for me the acceleration is more important then the topspeed) Also have to make a customframe and see what watercoolingsystem ill put on. I want the bike to be waterproof ,so i can drive it also on a bad day here in belgium when mtbtracks are mudy and full with pools. The batterychoise will be 6 tattu's of 30000mah ,so 75volts on a 60ah battery with a 25c drain will be enough :D . Already have the pinion transmisionbox in stock. It must stay a pedalbike ,the bike laws here are a great grey zone, i must try to let it look like a regular e-bicycle.

I still have doubts about the adaptto, will this a match for the nova 15 watercooled? In my bike now i have a 160 short revolt with a adaptto mid-e at 72volts and the adaptto always gets hot and shuts off . This in normal driving conditions.(i know the rv160 is close to the limits of mid-e) So i am a little scared that a max-e also will overheated with the nova15 or am i wrong?

Did you get any more info from the Hacker guys? Maybe the HST 350 could be a sweet match with the Plettenberg Nova 15?
580 A peak should give you plenty of acceleration. If you don't get anywhere with them you might wanna check with Pear control if they are willing to sell you a test unit, from the thread they had here last year I think they where fishing for bulk sale for their new line of controllers. But they have not updated their own thread since early this winter so who knows. Maybe they agree to sell you one of their 20+kw controllers. Or if you got some spare room on your custom frame you could check out the Apt [strike]96000[/strike] AE96600 from QS. Probably peak way past 25kw and cost less then 400$ iirc.

Heck you are doing a custom frame, build your frame around the Nova 15 and the Apt [strike]96000[/strike] AE96600. It might not be a skinny bike cos of the controller size and the poor "cable management" but you will drain those Lipos before the controller quit on you. And that APT is a sub 400 $ sine wave foc controller, programmable and even got canbus so you can pick and read data from controller. Only problem is the size, the width is 145 mm iirc. It is in the QS thread and on their Aliexpress site.

Still no price from Hacker, they are realy slow responding :? Dont know how they run there bussiness :?:
Yes new frame building gonne take much time , i maybe dont have this winter :(
For the controller I will contact Peir later on to see what the options are on their controller.

Got a mail from Oleg from adaptto  He thinks its no match between the adappto and nova wk, its to close to the limits? If i compare the amps-limits, the nova takes max 200 amps and the max-e delivers 200 amps nominal. I have not the intension to drive it continue at the high amps ,so maybe the adaptto will get hot time to time.....maybe i can watercooled the adaptto :D
The nova needs also watercooling so thats maybe a solution
If i am wrong in my comparing the amps tell me

Well if you first got a water cooling setup for you motor adding a Y split and loop the controller too is easy and really makes sense.
Just try to get a large reservoir as that helps keeping the coolant at low temp as well as good quality radiator.

In terms of power and torque it should work and as long as you keep monitoring and cooling both motor and controller. So you are right comparing the Amps.

What I suspect Adaptto was thinking of was the max RPM of the Nova motor. From memory Nova tops out at 9000 RPM.
That can cause trouble for Adaptto, which has an upper limit of 60 or 70.000 e-RPM.

Adaptto is not known to work well with high speed motors that come close to 10.000 RPM.
