I am sure many of you know that when you have a frame bag or really anything attached to your bike (wires, batteries, etc.) it will wear away the paint.

As a temporary solution I put blue painters tape under the frame bag straps and other areas which the frame bag will rub as I noticed paint being worn away in those areas.

I was wondering if anyone has a better clear solution to go under the frame bag and places where wires run so that it dose not wear away the paint in those areas?

I am thinking some kind of clear plastic that can be easily removed?

There is a heavy duty self adhesive clear tape used on the chain stay to protect the paint on multi-speed bikes. But I would rather use one side of industrial self adhesive velcro on the frame under the bag.I have it in black, and white. The black is stronger.

3M make some stuff called Helicopter tape which is made for bike protection.

The best, thicker grades of clear packing tape should work well. Tape residue from that doesn't liquefy in the summer like gorilla tape or duct tape. And when you want it off, it's not so hard to get rid of as cooked hard duct tape residue. The specialty tapes will work even better of course.
