So, I posted this on another forum while I went through the process but figured people here may want the info. This is what I discovered tearing-down 2 battery packs I got from a recycling bin. Both had already experienced thermal runaway and been opened, so I'm not positive if anything wasn't stock. Short version is apparently there was a battery recall from this company but it's hard to find info on. Longer version is they use quality cells and have good pack construction, but seem to be lacking some quality control around moisture or got some bad cells from Samsung. Beyond that, they seem to be reusing cheap Chinese components, with a better frame/rear suspension design. I haven't been able to get much response from the company, but on their website you can find videos showing their controller, wiring, and control unit. The BMS is from "duolixin" which does have a website that google can somewhat translate. Mosfets are nothing special, and the BMS seems to be the area where the undesired thermal event occurred, and where it was still actively shorting (as I discovered by burning myself slightly). Get the full scoop here if you want.
