I say this video isn't even real by Lexus. At the end, it doesn't even show the guy actually riding it. It only gives hint of the guy putting his right foot on the board about to ride it that makes it "believable". I will only believe its true if he is actually moving on it. The smoke from the board looks real, but it is possible to be create with fx software. Such a thing is still a long way.

edit. Its on the link to the website Lexus says they use liquid nitrogen, superconductors, and permanent magnets. This is a believable part, but I won't believe it until they show him actually riding it.

They have had this for a while now, but cool to see TH ride it.

Unfortunately it needs liquid nitrogen cooling... and a copper floor...

Still can't wait, but realistically don't think it'll be any time soon.

It looks similar in some ways to the Hendo Board that is on Kickstarter.

I seen and read all information on Hendo, but does not cut it. By clarification it as to be a few inches above the ground like in "Back to The Future".

Yuuuuup! Nope! Photoshop...

If you cant turn it to go where you want (OR IF YOU NEED A COPPER SIDEWALK) IT AIN'T A SKATEBOARD!

I heard that the Lexus board works the same way as the Hendo does. They put some kind of board/plate under a fake sidewalk.

As I'm never going to release a magnetic hoverboard, I'll throw an idea for the DIY hardcores who might come to this thread : why has nobody added at least 2 EDFs with vents on the front and back of the hoverboards to actually direct these things?

Sounds like basic logic to me, hovercaft boats have a gigantic propeller with vent but they fight a lot of forces (water current, roots, dirt...), for something as "simple" as an hoverboard even tiny outrunners would do. Best is if outrunners can rotate themselves.

Whatever, not my fight

Hi,
this isnt new, but as chuttney1 mentioned you need a magnetic ground and some liquid nitrogen

I still will love to see any progress with this, (waiting since 1985 :))
