For anyone else who decided to destroy their 36v ebikes nimh chargers by connecting them to the series connected battery packs (72v), I finally repaired mine . One charger just needed the melted circuit board traces filled in with solder and the other one had a blown power transistor. Replaced with this one from mouser, NTE2308. Both working fine now.

My camera is out of service so I can't post any pics. The charger with the most circuit board damage did not blow either of the power transistors. I guess the solder melted before the transistor gave out . I just filled in the missing traces with solder and it worked fine . The other one had a transistor that had shorted. They are mouted on the portion of the heat sink that bends and comes across the circuit board. They are held in place with clips and covered with a grey insulator cover. Cross referenced the part number to get an NTE number. Soldered in the new one and it worked fine.
