Got a chance to procure a 2005-6 Stingray Chopper from a friends neighbour.
These where a retro chopper in several versions. Most American were Orange County Choppers, this one and another I've seen on internet are DC Choppers.I don't know what DC refers to.They came in small versions for little kids using 16" wheels F&B.The larger Youth's versions had 20"x4 1/2" rear with 22"x2" front wheels. And adult versions,in at least two styles.
They have a huge rear axel offset of 150mm or maybe 160mm not sure.I haven't had areal good look at this one yet so I dont know the exact sizes. But I do know it is not the adult version with curved frame,it has a straight frame. There were some curved frame adult versions made and that I know in USA an adult staight frame version were only in blue made in 2005.Again,I'm not sure of what was available in Canada vs USA,and what were DC Choppers?
I'm going to go see it again today and take pics and measurements. The brakes are the biggest rim brakes I've ever seen.Rims are cast aluminum.
I've seen on the internet them being converted to electric drive and even small ICE drive. There is even and outfit that installs x5 in the rear with the battery in the triangle that is made to look like an aircooled V-twin.
The idea of installing an x5 in one intrigues me.They appear to be very heavy and strong with lots of room for batteries, wires, controller well hidden. With front suspension and those meaty 4.5x20 slicks on the back should it not be a comfortable ride?
I'd like to hear any comments about the bike and anything else that may be of use to know. They appear to be very well built for the original price sold.
Would they handle poorly? Would they be dangerous to ride?Thinking if a youths version to use long banana seat with rearposts from axel rising to form sissy bar to allow adult leg room and modified handlebars.Parts like the 4.5" wide rim are still available on e-bay and other stuff.
Does it sound cool or am I off my rocker and should I just go back to bed chewing pain killers?

OK Guys......I had the time to go have a good look at the bike. After getting the junk off and into some light I realised I some things were not as I believed. :?
This bike can accomdate my size surprisingly, would be better if the seat raised a little more would be more comfortable. In proper lighting found that it is indeed an OC Chopper. A splattering of mud combined with the Gothic font really did resemble a "DC" as opposed to "OC".
Checked the Serial Number and it is confirmed as a 2005 so I have to assume it is meant as a youth's bike since it is not blue painted. It's Black w/Red Flames.
The weight is not bad, maybe 30lbs.The welds and construction appear to be very good. Some small minor scratches overall paint and detailing is still very good.
The front forks were a disappointment upon closer inspection and are not suspension as originally thought.Could they be converted to suspension? If so is it even worth it?
Still like the idea of putting an 5x in the rear hub. That 4.5" rear aluminum rim has 36 spokes and would hide the width of the hub motor nicely.I tried to measure the distance between the trailing arms and though I could not get the tape measure strait across it read 160mm.So what probably 150mm dropouts? Check out the story on this linkhttp://www.gizmag.com/go/4054/
After second more thorough look,I still find it intriging to electrify this toy.Need a larger or longer seat maybe with backrest.Still concerned about front forks being a weakness. Can they be replaced or shortened?Or are they likely OK.Previous electric and ICE conversions brag of speeds of 14-20mph.
Any opinions?
The bike will cost me a case and a half of beer  That's 24+12 for you guys outside of Canada. Then gotta help him drain some of them just to be friendly.
