to all you who answered to my post on buying a bike, thank you.but i my have confused a few people here.first, let me point out the first and main reason why i want to buy an electric mountainbike.at 50 now ,and still hike and climb mountains better then some 20 yrs old.i am a big time bowhunter, did not want to post that last time, cause some people may get offended. I need to to as little as possible of pedaling ,not to sweat. If you stink buy the time you get to your hunting spot GAME OVER.a little kick off to start the bike is not a big deal ,but a mile or 2 of pedaling ,with hunting gear on and treestands etc, you will stink.and a mature buck or bear wont thing about getting with in bow range.at the end of the day ,coming out ,back to my car,i could pedal all the way.most of my spots are no more than a mile to a mile an a half in.speed is not a big thing 10 to 15 mph. is about right.again it is better to have more like we all want ,cause there are area where i can go faster.the trails are pretty much pack mud, or sand. Hilly, not steep mountains.i had people on 10 speed bikes pedal past me .why a bike an not a quad or dirt bike ,not allowed.but i do have them.to get my game out if i have to.dont have time to build a bike all though, i have a enough welding equip. and tools to do so.but no time.at least not now.i live in n,y. and i can also see me taking the bike out for keeping me in shape.Of course pedaling.I would like a bike i can build on if i have time later in year.I see these trail z bikes around but i would like something a little more solid and more of a hill climber.dont think i need to go more then 1500.00 dollars on a bike.im not beating the bike ,on heavy trails at extreme speeds like you see on these videos. so what would you people recommend.i was looking at the r martain r 10 or extreme eg i think. what would you pros recommend thank you.

Sorry but if you want anything under 1500 then you will have to slip the front wheel on and attach the battery yourself. I have almost run over about a half dozen deer in my trail riding so I see your point even though I do not hunt deer. Luckily the bucks were more scared of me (surprised I think) then I was of them. I can only tell you what I have and that it ran about 1200 dollars. I have a Norco Steel frame bike - good fork travel - an E-bikekit motor - the kit is the recommended way to go but specify 48v because the battery (actually 60v LiFePO4) from VPower convered in exercise mat cover and velcro strapped - covered by a waterproof half of a recycle bag. Make sure you get the regen brakes as they are much more forgiving in the downhill slide. The battery carrier on the back must handle 100 lbs. of force even though the battery is only 20 lbs. The inner tube on the back should be of the puncture proof variety. If you don't what to put it together then don't call when something happens to you or the bike or quad or whatever you use - because nobody will be there to help you = Good Luck

I would not buy a pre-made e-bike for what purpose you are intending. They do not have enough battery amp hours or good enough hill climbing ability without pedaling with lots of hunting gear strapped to you and the bike. If you want a truly good e-bike for your needs you must spend some time reading carefully through this forum. Post up what your ideas are and ask us how we feel about it. Tell us why you made the decisions you made and then have us agree/disagree add to or praise you for your wise choices based on your research of the information already provided here on Endless-Sphere. There are many things to consider and the computer on your shoulders will rule out alot of things that wont apply for you specifically. Then embrace the ideas that you like and bounce them off of our noggins! I'll check back with you later when I have more time, and give you my opinion on what you have found. Good luck! :)

I am actually working on a bike that will do what you ask, but I am still in development. It will likely be another month or two before I am ready to go to market. If you decide to wait to buy, check back on my site often and you can see it coming together.

Where do you plan to carry the deer you bag on the bike? For the record I'm not busting your chops about hunting, I enjoy it as well especially bow hunting.

You might contact Cycle9. They specialize in electric cargo bike conversions. http://www.cycle9.com/

I had started a post yesterday for the same question but I kept seeing this

but then I saw this

and couldn't get out of my head perhaps that is the real reason why the OP needs an electric bike to keep up with the deer who stole his last bike

But in seriousness how will you get the deer back as the previous poster asked? Is there a service or do you have to carry it yourself. If you do depending on size I wonder if a trailer and if a trailer that could be mechanized. If your just going to tow it on a tarp behind it I wonder if a cyclone like system would be good so you could have a really low gearing since I'd imaging pulling a big animal would be much like riding up a steep hill.

the bike is only used to get me in and out.like i said before ,i have quads and some trails are wide enough to drive my pick through.but like i said the post before this, cant leave vechicle park there.for you guys that recommended me to build a bike i agree, but i would not no what to even order, starting with the bike frame.if i could built one in a day, after i have all the parts i just might.

Ah I didn't realize the not allowed part was you couldn't park there thought you couldn't bring it legally in at all. If other hunters are near I guess they wouldn't appreciate it much but then maybe when you kill one all the rest clear out for far enough around it doesn't matter.

Something from cycle 9 with a cargo bike for all your gear at least would be a really good place to start..
