I am in the process of learning solidworks. Cool program that's much nicer than I remember A-cad being circa 1995.

Anyway, I'm going thru numerous very similar threads on solidworks/CAD, and wanted to request a 'cleanup' crew if that's appropriate.

Ideally I'm picturing fewer generic threads for info compaction/ ease of use. Then naturally other more specific topics could/would branch out;

That being said, please bump this one with the rest, or just remove it.

Otherwise I'll just continue to search/read and post on the subject, as normal. I was surprised there are something like a dozen small threads.

Thanks!

PS- I'm looking at the databases and toolbox, and am a little surprised to not find a drawing of the standard shimano 10t hub pawl for reference. It's fairly intricate to model, and I half expected someone would have already done it.

(it's the cog/pawl on a normal 135x10 bike up that accepts the freehub body with cassette.)

It definitely took some time to figure out the nuances of the program, but overall it's much nicer to use (obviously) than predecessors. Sure it could be simpler for a newb but gosh the program capabilites are ridiculous! I know I've just skimmed the surface making this 3.74 cubic cm part w/ 24 features.

Now I'm looking at printing a protoype and the first place said their minimum was 250$, but his part would be way less in time/material. 1/2 hr print and 5$ plastic.

I'm thinking about just buying this: http://www.amazon.com/HICTOP-Technology-Accuracy-Self-assembly-Tridimensional/dp/B00N7I1ZVU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1436531334&sr=8-1&keywords=3d+printer&pebp=1436531339303&perid=0VXSVG63RHJC0GY2T48M
Could be a lot of fun to put together, and obviously useful.

One query though, if that's the minimum price for a larger company that only does plastic, what kind of a price will it be for stainless print using dmls???

I thought it should be cheaper than a millwork or cnc ! ! These are new waters for me.

Hey guys, I wanted to upload the stl file of this pawl as a convervsation piece, or maybe somebody wanted to check or print-check my drawing. It won't let me upload stl or sldprt files, lets try it zipped?

Any ideas?

Lol cura is my default for .stl and I don't even know how to make it lay flat yet hehe.
