This article adds a little more insght as to the availability and cost of the Th!nk commuter all electric with >100 mile range. Also some very limited info on battery choices- but there will be choices! The commuter car will become available next year in the US. The Th!nk is already just available in Norway, Sweden and Denmark. The car can be plugged in at home and charged overnight.

In addition, it appears we have some investors that are backing the company and they are named in the article. The Th!nk City will go for somewhat less than $25,000.

The Think City, when it hits the market in the U.S., will be equipped with three optional, high-powered batteries. U.S. consumers will be able to choose from what Think describes as a "sodium battery" system with active materials composed of sodium, nickel and iron, as well as from two types of lithium-ion batteries from two U.S. companies: A123 Systems of Watertown, Mass., and Enerdel. Enerdel is the joint-venture battery company owned 80.5% by Ener1 inc. and 19.5% by auto-component supplier Delphi Corp.

I think (no pun intended) that I would like one of these as well. It would fit my commuter needs nicely. With another car that is ICE, we should be just fine. I just hope I can get one, as they targeted large metro areas and I am in a small(er) cow town. For sure, this will be one of the first "cars" available. I believe 2010 will offer more choices.

I think its strange that Think is offering two choices for Li-ion batteries.
Why the A123 and the EnerDel when according to Green Car Congress the EnerDel batt is clearly better?
As a consumer why would I not go for the best battery?

I think unfortunately that the Ox is more vapor-ware than not. The new owners of Think already had a car where all the expensive work was done for them. So its a relatively cheap thing to add better batteries and upgrade the electronics. The Ox would require large amounts of cash to create and get legalized....maybe after they sell a ton of Think Citys they'll have the money to do it?

Yea this 'wild and woolyness' worries me...for us as super little guys there does not seem to be a reliabe source of quality Li-ion batteries from manf who will warrenty them and stand behind them... A123 isnt going to bother with us, either is Enerdel or Lithium Tech or SAFT...

The Think "Open" (at their website)is the most dorky looking car I have ever seen in my life. These guys need to get some good designers in on the styling of these cars if they expect anyone besides fringe EV crazies to buy them. I could live with the City though, but $25,000 is a bit high for a tiny toy electric car. I guess that is the price once you do the Euro-US Peso conversion.
