Hi,
Forgive my ignorance, i have not been active on the forum for quite a while and have some what lost touch with the latest developments in ebikes.
Are there any concerns i should have with these batteries to run two in series. I would be using them for 35-40amp current loads.... http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=68822

Are they widely acknowledged and used in the ES community? I currently run lipos made out of 3ah packs but am feed up of having to balance so many of them , would the above batteries be ok to use?

Thanks, will take a look now.

Two of those would make a nice pack. But beware the dreaded backorder. Don't ever order anything backordered from HK.

Yes, great advice. They look quite scarce at the moment. I read through the suggested topic, they seem to be ok as as long they are only used at about a quarter of their advertised C rating. Which would be fine for my purposes. Who knows, maybe they will be here for christmas. I can definitley see the price on them rising, some of them are a steal at the present prices.

I run three of these in series on my fat bike. If you are ok with bulk charging and manual balancing they are good. Any balance charger will take forever to balance these so you have to do it manually. Not a bad option if you need to pull high peak amperage but for what you need an 25r or 30q 18650 pack will last much longer and be way easier to use. Cheaper in the long run.

Hobbyking have a 16Ah in stock at the European warehouse.....
Just the one though :?
I bulk charge mine and discharge to 3.6V and NEVER had to balance them in over a year.
Checked every charge and always in balance, drop below that though and they will start to wander.

Thanks for the heads up. That is very tempting for the amount of ah.
Yeah a man of what appears to be your excessive caliber might need the extra performance that lipo can deliver.
But yeah the higher S hk packs tend to always be on order and might be a fair wait for a more convenient set of 6S packs.

Thanks for all the replies. I bought 8 packs of the 10ah 4s. I have used lipo before for making packs but nneded a new solution for a current build. I have since successfully built two packs from the above cells and now have two packs of 67v 10ah which i can run in parallel. I tested them for the first time last night. I am running them with a magic pie v2 with rewired 12awg phase wires and a lyens sensorless controller at 50a. I registered 3200w on the CA. Its very fast, though running sensorless makes it a bit grumbly on take of without the hall sensors.

And yes, a man of my exessive caliber, does need that power
