Hi all!

I'm new to ebikes and have recently purchased a Prodecotech Phantom 400 for my commute to work (about 8 miles, mostly flat streets and a bike path).

36V 400W Direct Drive Motor
36v 10.4Ah Samsung Battery

I'd like to upgrade the P400 to go faster. Currently, it will top out at about 20 mph on the flats with pedaling.

Has anyone upgraded the P400? I've read about hotrodding ebikes but I haven't really found anything on this specific ebike yet. Or the specs on the rear hub motor.

I was thinking I could connect two batteries in series and use a LYEN 12 FET 4110 MOSFET MK2 sensorless Controller to boost the voltage. I'd like to get up to 30-35 mph for the long stretches of road. But I don't really have an idea of how much more voltage is possible with this motor.

Any insights would be much appreciated!

The motor will handle it... The voltage isn't that important unless you're talking hundreds of volts.
Some batteries don't go well in series depending on the BMS, so hard to say with certainty, but if it was bare packs, then yes, series is a easy way to get more speed along with a controller upgrade.. But then battery indicator might not read right, and your battery mountings will take a beating, brakes someone need beefing up, etc.
