Upgrading hidden camera sensor?

Hey Guys,

Just got this thing from eBay:

Just tested this 1080p camera and even though the frame rate is good, it has lots of noise.

I pulled out the camera connector and it's a standard 24 pin connector so I thought about upgrading the camera.
Wrote in AliExpress "24 pin camera" and found some cameras that seem better but none of the goes up to 1080p which makes me doubt
the one I have is actually 1080p, maybe it processes the file as 1080 but is actually 640x480 originally?

What does 500W mean? it can't be watts...

..but in this case it probably means 500 pixels (W)ide
It's always a roll of the dice with these little cameras but some are definitely less noisy than others but I have no recommendations because it's been several years since I've purchased any.

At that price point I would suspect that it is similar to some of those 9800mAh 18650 cells that you can buy on ebay for a buck apiece.

Do you think I could just swap the old with a better new one and get it to work without any pcb/software mods?
because it also has auto focus and such...
