Anyone know what the current regulations for mailing lithium batteries via the United States Postal Service is?

Are they forbidden via air but not by ground?

Is it one of those "don't ask/don't tell" things?

Thanks.

If folks can send drugs across country via USPS ground, I don't think think batteries would have a problem (i.e. 'don't ask, don't tell').
Though, from the smashed up boxes I've received from USPS, I don't know that I would trust batteries in their hands...period.

True. But smashed up drugs get used just the same. Smashed up lithium burns up like no other.

As far as I know you just have to let them now and there might be a hazmat charge for it. When you go to pay for shipping in the post office, it actually shows up on the credit card machine.
