The rider of an electric scooter who was hit by an SUV in East Vancouver over the weekend has died of his injuries. Speed, alcohol, and distracted driving do not appear to be factors in the crash.
This is in Vancouver's downtown eastside, where there is a lot of drugs and poverty.

An electric scooter rider has died of his injuries following a collision with a sport utility vehicle in Vancouver.
The collision happened on March 7 at about 2:45 p.m when the SUV, which was travelling north on Hawks Avenue through Cordova Street when it collided with an eastbound, two-wheeled electric scooter. The rider was thrown to the ground and suffered serious injuries.
The man was rushed to the hospital where he later died.
Vancouver police said speed, alcohol and distracted driving do not appear to be factors in the crash.
This is Vancouver’s fourth traffic related fatality in 2015.
