hi there, im in new zealand, do you know where I could get new batteries for a vego sx600 or can they be modified? they have been dead since 2006! I would really appreicate some help, as Im stuck! thanks :D

If its stock it runs on 2 X 12v SLA so thats means atleast 1 good thing...you have plenty on room to upgrade to lithium.

If you want the cheapest way out it would be to buy 2 X 12v SLA batteries. But lets be honest there not worth their weight.

an easy plug and play solution would be a 24v 15ah ping battery this would give you greater range and torque compared to SLA but cost $$

If you have electronic experience you may want to buy Lipo RC packs and build you own very powerful battery, but cost $$

or you could decide you want more speed and get a whole new controller and run at 36v and get a 36v lithium battery

awesome! thanks! yes, they are stock standard, and I really just want to get it going to sell.... should I just take a battery into a scooter shop?

If they are 12v 12 ah sla batteries, that's the same thing you see in all the kids toy electric cars. So you might find it convenient to buy replacement batteries in a toy store, or toy section of a dpt store. The other common source, is suppliers of electric wheelchair batteries.

Don't fall into the trap of buying lead batteries intended for emergency lights, etc, that aren't made for providing amps at higher rates.

I would suggest taking one of your batteries out. find out if its 12ah 18ah or 20ah. Then going to your local battery distributor ( do a little google search for your town) and you'll probably get the SLA's half the price you will from a scooter shop.

Here are some photos of the batteries.

Mine are dead also but I haven't replaced them. Instead I run two 6s 5000mah turnigy Lipos in parallel.
Charging is not as simple with the Lipo, I have to unplug each battery and charge individully with a RC charger.

You do realize that you can charge them in parallel without unplugging them don't you? Just parallel the balance leads too and charge as a single 10ah 6s pack.

the dead batteries are pl11-12t
12v 11ah
I dont see sla written anywhere on them? discharge current 7A.....they werent very powerful!
