Hello there,
I got two PSU: DPS-1200fb. Both are working well on my 220V house system and give out 12.25V and 75A max.
I got two to use in series for my Turnigy Reaktor charger.
To do that I need to cut the DC ground of one unit as said in this tutorial: http://www.rchelination.com/setting-hp-dps-1200fb-power-supply/
I did that a bit different: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=32121003&postcount=3215
I've got it to work fine, without any DC ground connected.
BUT:
I uncovered a strange behaviour:
In normal state (unfloated ground) I am able to set the voltage and it stays constantly at the voltage set with the potentiometer.
12.25V constant
Unfortunately, as soon as I make it a "floating DC ground PSU", I can't get the voltage to stay at the desired level. It's constantyl jumping up and down.
in my case 12.14V - 12.31V (without changing anything)
Strangely: As soon as I've build it back to the original screws, the voltage is constant again.
What is going on?
Do I even need the floating ground if I find a way to NOT to LET THE PSUs TOUCH while using them in serial?
