Way to add bearing to protect motor side cover?

Hello, when I first got my motor conversion kit, I used lead acid batteries to ride with my friend who also had a electric bike while I waited for my lithium battery to come from China. As a result, I had to pedal a lot and save battery power since his bike had a lot more range. This caused me to spit my motor cover in the first week.

I had others tell me of some threads they have seen which others prevent this by making their own bearing to put on the side to protect the cover. Despite searching, I have been unable to find any of these threads, I believe they may have existed on another ebike website but I have searched google with no success.
Anybody know of a thread or have their own success with adding a bearing?

Take a look at this thread and there are some links within as well.

Thanks, measuring my leftover side cover and a extra freewheel it appears I need a 17mm ID and 22 OD bearing, looks like there is only a sleeve bearing of that size on McMaster-carr's website which hopefully should be fine, it might cause some resistance. I'll measure the shaft just to double check before ordering.

I went to measure my motor shaft and I noticed an outer ring on the freewheel that is wider than the traditional 22mm freewheel ring which is visible deeper inside the freewheel. I guess it makes more sense to place a bearing as far out as possible on the freewheel. I couldn't measure the diameter without taking off the freewheel/motor cover with my caliber so I tried putting a metal ring inside that measured 24.7mm and it almost fit but was slightly to big, so I'm guessing 24mm od is as close as I'm gonna get.

I found an almost perfect bearing on amazon but the width is too long, 25mm, 15mm should be perfect which is a option but the shipping takes a month and a half longer. I'll order the 25mm version for now to see if the od and id works, if it does I might order the other, not sure if I can cut this kind of bearing.
