I'm looking for help finding a replacement rear rim. My current rim came stock from an Electric Rider kit. ER shared that the exact rim is a J&B part 48001:
To be honest I don't really understand what I should be looking for. The Weinmann rim fits well on my bike, and I'd like something similar in size, but stronger, if possible.
Here's a few I'm looking at:
Sun Ringle Rhyno Lite
Alex DM24 26inches 36h Silver or via Amazon
I'm going to replace the tire as well. I was running a WTB Vulpine 2.1" but the tread ran down way too quickly. I got nearly 600 miles on this tire, but the last 150 miles were riding on paper thin tread. From the reviews of this tire it's meant for racing only, and not day-to-day use. Ideally I'd like to upgrade to a nice 2.3", rim permitting. I'm not set on any particular tire yet, but the E-S archives are full of recommendations for sturdy tires.
I've also spent a considerable time trying to get my head around the complexities of Tire sizes and Rim sizes (via Sheldon Brown). But I'm still at a loss. I get the feeling that without your help I'm going to get a rim that doesn't fit my bike, and a tire that doesn't fit the rim. I appreciate your help to make this all work out.
