hello. i have been looking around for a good electric bike hub motor. all i need in the motor in the wheel. i do not need a controller or batteries. anyone know a good place to check out? oh btw i'm looking for a pretty strong one, maybe one that can handle 750 to 1000 watts. thanks in advance!

Where you source a motor from will depend upon where you are in the world, putting your location in your profile would help people to help you.

Tench is right, the shippings fee can be way more expensive than the motor itself, if you say where you live people can recommend the right place.

Maybe some member can tell you a store near your place,i will tell you some online sites:
http://www.electricrider.com/
http://www.ebikes.ca/ justin's site, has pre-modified hubs

http://www.methtek.com/ methods' site
http://www.ebikedeal.com/ maxwell65's site

I hope it helps.

Pretty much any direct drive hubmotor can handle 1500 watts, though they may be rated lower, like 500-800.

One of my favorites is the 9 continent, or the motors that other manufacturers made that closely imitate it. Mostly because they retailed the cheapest.

Ebikes ca, EbikeKit, Amped bikes are the USA sources. Emissions free in china likely the cheapest source. Sometimes you can get a deal on a close out, scratch and dent, etc. Or a used one on our for sale used board. Usually about $100 used.

You might start by asking Lester at Chicago Electric bikes if he has any old used motors laying about. That is, if you are on a budget.

If not, the motor from ebikes ca is hard to beat for value.
