a new Casio EX E12 "HD" minicam to replace my old red Casio version that offered only "SD" video.
It is about the size of a pack of cigarettes, but half as thick. It's tiny!
=These things do not zoom while filming
=Best for reasonably bright daylight
=640x480 15fps for SD present day YT uploads, and optional, 24fps 720P, for "HD" YT already available today.
=Neither model can auto-refocus whilst filming. Just set it for "infinity focus" for bike rides?
=Then four feet, or so, out to infinity, is in quite good-enough focus if the light is strong.
=Takes good still shots for such a tiny thing. The usual 'barrel distortion'.
=Three x optical zoom. I need no more than that, or even that kind of zoom.
=Cost $187US delivered, from Amazon.com
It is an adjunct: a bike-ride camera that captures mono sounds quite well.
=Here is a first sample, of the Casio EX S12, a very first try, from atop a solar-hot-foot roof!
=The tripod isn't rock solid; neither am I. Am weak and shaky. Should not be on the roof, ever.
It's just a test. Then we see the older camera, which offers only "SD" (standard YT definition)
"HD" of sorts, if you press the "HD" button in the player below.
This is no semi-pro grade camera, but it will take G-shocks, and even rain, if you Saran-Wrap!

Here's a vid of a few weeks ago, "SD" from the predecessor, an EX S770 of about two years age:

A bit less clear? Does it matter it matter that our videos can become much clearer
FUTURE SHOCK: all this that we consider passable today, will be a JOKE to people of just a few years from now,
when broadband of high speed will be UNIVERSAL, and so, YT will, later, as average service speeds increase,
they, YT, will further de-compress high quality files that they now accept,
up to TWO gigabites per ten minutes of running time! Fuzzy videos of today, such as above will be as like poor jokes
to our progeny of five or ten years from today. Predictions of Things to Come!
(my first cousin, Drew)

The two Casio cameras are nearly twins, other than the "HD" capability of the new E12 model,
which operates so similarly. This "HD" is nothing so good as you can get from a true, big-buck HD camcorder.

AIM: clearer, better bike ride videos!
