morph999 said:ok, my next question....
which 2-way pager should I buy
A gorilla two-way alarm

or
a
Steelmate Martian alarm ?

I don't think the Steelmate has a tilt sensor and that is the only downside that I see so far. Or is there another one that anyone thinks is good?
or an auto page $100

I've had two bikes stolen because the lock and cable was too cumbersome for me to bother with. I still have that lock and cable. Now I always lock my bike. Don't get a lock you won't use. Consider two locks. A good NYC type U-lock is usually sufficient for quick trips. A behemoth like that or my 6.8# of through-hardened 10mm chain is reserved for when I'll be parking for extended periods in dubious neighbourhoods. Then I use both locks.morph999 said:Here is the chain that I'm thinking of getting for my ebike. It's 20lbs. My new e-bike I should say. My new e-bike will be a mountain bike with a 5303 motor.

I won't be carrying the chain all the time. Just the days that I'm going to the grocery and stuff. What do you think of the chain. Too big?
Before ebikes there was (still is) an axiom that all bikes weigh fifty pounds.morph999 said:I might go with the onguard 5018 instead. It's 14 lbs. I could probably handle that.
Get the noose instead of the basic chain because with the larger ring on the end of the chain you have more options for locking as the end's don't have to meet in the middle. The chain can be shorter if its a noose so you carry less weight. You can wrap the noose around a post then put it through the wheel and lock the mini u-lock to the frame.morph999 said:I might go with the onguard 5018 instead. It's 14 lbs. Anyone with wire cutters could have your bike in less than 5 minutes. I agree about the lock needing to be easy to use and carry. Mini U locks are perfect(I think mine is an ongaurd bulldog) They are really easy to use and would require a much bigger tool and more time to break. The cable locks offer no security, they just keep the honest folks honest.deronmoped said:I always use one of those cheap cable locks, never had a problem, probably because I always lock my bike in a high visibility area. The way I figure it, the lock has to be real easy to carry and use, or I might just chance it one to many times not using a heavy pain in the butt lock. Although I would not leave my bike for a few hours or overnight, without the use of a high strength lock.
