Where is everyone from? Meet and Greet? Visit and Compare?

I'm in Haverhill, MA --at the limit of Boston's suburbs as defined by the train lines. I've just been ebiking a few weeks after lurking for years. The first ebike a saw was one from markcycle (active on the emotorcycle/scooter threads) at the Boston Altwheels festival. Most people I know haven't...

Having my BL-36 laced to a new rim - reccommendations?

mrgarci1 I'm having my Aotema motor from HighTek bikes (same as WE) relaced to a proper 700C rim for my hybrid bike. The rim supplied was for a huge 29er tire that my hybrid won't accommodate. I got a Mavic A319 ($55) which was recommended and double-walled with built-in eyelets. I'm not sure...

[img] Agreed. I've taken back my fatso 29er tire and exchanged for a Mavic A319 rim (19mm), which was labeled to handle 35-50c tires. I'm having the shop lace the wheel for me since I haven't done it before and don't want to screw it up. This is the second time I've had wheels rebuilt and the...

Yeah well here's one! The rim is 24.5mm internal width. Confirmed by 2 bike shops that said "man, that's a fat rim!"

Here's some WattsUp data from my last two rides. Mileage was adjusted about 3% as my cycle computer was not calibrated for a monster 29-er tire (622-53) but the route mileage was known so I could adjust afterward. First ride= fast and hard throttle up hills, mixture of peddling/ no peddling 2nd...

Two things so I'll break up into two posts: First some info on the "700c" tire/wheel, then some CA data for two rides. Summary: the HighTek "700c" rim is for a 29-er tire, min. 1.9in width (48mm) So this weekend I was all geared up for a test run with my new WattsUp meter, still using crimped...

Thanks for the input nutsandvolts, Dogman, Russell. I figured 14ga should be enough since it handles 15A house wiring @ 110V but wasn't sure. I had put in a 30A fuse on the battery + just as a precaution and nothing's blown, so I assume 23A controller limit reported by others is the most I've...

Oops I just realized that 48V will draw LESS amperage than 36V setup. However, my battery wiring is only 14G right now with crimped push-ons, no solder anywhere. Also, battery-to-controller connection is wire nutted for now, as I´m still waiting on the Andersons (I broke the originals with my...

So if this is true it's measuring voltage under load, right? (25V would be less than dead for 36V pack) Today I tried a different, longer route- 12.5 miles. Strong wind. The pack was charged to 52V (13.0 ea, perfectly balanced) and started to crap out at mile 8. Then I took it real easy and...

Well I made it home with juice to spare, 10.4 mi in 31 min. End voltage 47 V, each battery 11.7, 11.7, 11.8, 11.8. I took it easy, coasting down hill and no throttle on flats, just using it for inclines and keeping around 20mph in tough spots. I think my juice ran out on the trip to work partly...

hightekbikes.com motor kit review. Electric bike kit.

OK, I got my HiTek kit about a week ago and finally took my first run today. I'm not fully set up yet but thought I'd post a few remarks. I got the kit minus batteries, then decided on 4X 10.5ah Powersonic SLA's (BatteriesPLus) because I wasn't patient enough to get bigger ones shipped online...

Poll: What size LiFePO4 packs are best?

I agree with Joey. As I´m just now building my first rig and haven´t decided on batteries yet I can give only a more general perspective (full disclosure: just bought motor kit from Terry). Keep in mind that the average ES poster is more of an enthusiast/tinkerer/engineer and possibly not...

    700c Roadbike, fast+short commute, which kit/battery?

Ok I just took the plunge and ordered a HiTekBike kit from Terry. I can confirm here what others have said about quick responses from him- there was a glitch with his website ordering module and he responded within a few hours and fixed it right away. Sounds like a gentleman. Still working on...
