a simple way to charge 29.6v of lipo? (2x 14.8v)

ok, my knowledge is slowly increasing! Im looking at getting 2 x turnigy 14.8v 5000mah sticks. and running them in series on my cyclone to achieve 29.6v. But, what about charging... would I need to split them into 2 sticks and charge 1 at a time, or could I leave them in series and charge them...

    affordable 25.9v lipo?

Kano, did you not find that fresh off the charger the lipos would over volt and blow the cyclone controller? Im wondering if 25.9v would be a safer option!

Thinking of overvolting my cyclone.... (lipo)

thanks both. Kano - did you notice a performance increase over lower V? Also how did you get around the problem of charging - just buy 2 chargers? Lastly! - how many mah were your batteries and how far could you get?

range on a cyclone with lipo....

Thanks, my other idea is 14.8 x 2 to get 29.5v (see my cyclone thread) My lack of knowledge comes now at the charging end of things! I presume I would have to charge them 1 at a time, or get 2 chargers. Also I would have the fiddly aspect of having to un-link them before charging every time. Ger

Thinking of overvolting my cyclone.... (lipo)

ive been told by Paco at cyclone-tw that the 24v kit can handle 30v, so... Im thinking of getting 2x 14.8v lipos in series to run 29.6v Has anyone else tried this, or something similar? Would the initial voltage run a bit over like you get with lifepo4? thus pushing me over the 30v mark and...

    affordable 25.9v lipo?

does it exist? or would it be easier to just series 18.5 + 7.4? The chaining of different batteries scares me a little bit for when it comes to charging time. Ger

range on a cyclone with lipo....

Thanks! Is it possible to connect a 18.5v to a 7.4v in series? to produce 25.9v? also, how would one charge these two if they were joined together? - assuming you would have to disconnect them, can these ebay lipo chargers charge 2 sticks at once? Ger

range on a cyclone with lipo....

range on a cyclone with lipo....

Thanks for the reply. Good information, yes I have had a look at that thread and will have a proper read when I get more time. One question has arisen already! I I was to run 2 x 11.1v packs instead of 1 22.2v pack, would chain-linking them provide me with enough capability to output enough...

range on a cyclone with lipo....

thanks, im new to this, as I currently use lifepo4, but am tempeted to sell it and use 2 5000mah sticks (one for the morning commute and one for afternoon). a couple of quick Qs if you have the time. 1. will the fact its 22.2v (not 24v) make the bike slower - infact is the lipo slower/quicker...

range on a cyclone with lipo....

hi guys, at a guess how many miles would a 6-Cells 22.2v 30C 2800mAh Li-Po Battery take me on my 500w cyclone? also a similar guess with a 5000mah? my guess is 2800mah - 3miles and 5000mah - 6miles. what do you reckon? Thanks Ger

    Battery Recommendation

Hi Guys, what battery would you recommend if you wanted 36v, to power a 720watt motor. and to travel about 12miles. I think the Ping lifepo4 are not ideal for this as I would require a 20ah battery due to the low C rating. which would be good for over 20miles, and be far too bulky. To summise...
