Undervolting cheap Chinese direct drive brushless 36V 500W?

Oops should have read further in the search results. Found this. Nevermind. (Source) Makes sense. Lower voltage equals higher current and blammo, dead motor.

Undervolting cheap Chinese direct drive brushless 36V 500W?

Would it be possible to put two 12V SLAs on a kit like this or must I run these at 36V? https://www.amazon.com/JAXPETY-Electric-Bicycle-Cycle-Conversion/dp/B0761QYCKM/ref=cm_cr_othr_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

    Are ebrakes sufficient?

I was thinking that. Unless the controller does some sort of reverse current when the brake lever is pulled to actively resist the forward speed, I couldn't see how it could possibly stop the bike. So I guess because you must still retain standard levers that many people such as markz do not use...

Right so are these sufficient to quickly stop my ride?

    Are ebrakes sufficient?

I see on this kit there are ebrakes. Are these sufficient to quickly stop my ride? If not I don't know how I would activate both my side pull brakes and ebrakes at the same time. Maybe they're intended for coaster brakes...

That's a good idea dogman but wow you must be loaded to have that many toys :D Trailer isn't strictly necessary.

Reminder, my load is 382 GROSS. Bike and motor included. Everything. I think some of you may have spec'd me at 382 net, hehe.

Yeah, it's got a stock 3 gear internal hub. I wanted to avoid buying more than necessary.

Please allow me to clarify: The trailer would only tow 200lbs. Like, two kids. But by the time you add in me+bike+motor+trailer+road flare+etc at 383 it goes over 600 GROSS weight.

Thanks all. SUPER forum! No nonsense. On a lighter note, does reading "Crystalyte" make your lips pucker too? I never really liked that stuff

Hmmm 250 watts continuous. I just bought a bike too. Sad story; it had a cheapie gas kit and I only drove it 1000 feet before the clutch flopped. No refund (Craigslist special). But I really like the frame and tires so I wanna build around it. After thinking about it some more, electric may be...

If money were no object, and you were in my shoes, what would you buy and why? Trailer is optional. Goal is best long-term reliability, consistent 20mph on my route. $$$$$$ By the way, I'm in the U.S. Florida, to be precise.

    O. Bummer. Yep that's very important. I'm reading reviews now but haven't yet encountered one discussing reliability issues. They do seem more fidgety.

Change in direction: Cyclone 500W $495 before shipping (which is $30?) Ping 24V 20AH V2.5 LiFePO4 $363 + $80 shipping Topeak MTX trunk bag (for the battery) Maybe a Cycle Analyst if it works with the Cyclone. Pros: * Keep the nice rims and balloon tires * Under $1000 * Uses less battery...

Here's the chain drive website I was referring to: Cyclone-USA.com They have a 500W kit for $495 before shipping. I like this option because my bike has nice looking rims and I wasn't sure if the balloon tires would fit on a replacement rim without going custom. LI-ghtcycle seems to think that...

So I'd buy straight from that board member, the one named methods? JVBike.com can lace up a 24" 9C on doublewalled rims and Sapim spokes for $527.27 (or less) including shipping. That makes my total $1106.27 with the battery. Still pretty good. I just don't know if I can get a "wife kit" 2810R...

LI-ghtcycle, the smoke you see is my brain being overloaded with good, new information. I'd seen the golden motors site a few years ago and forgotten all about it. There was another mid-drive website that I can no longer find which had some very nice looking setups, but if I recall they were...

Maybe ebikes.ca can do a custom wheel for a decent price. I'll ask.
